A 6.6km stretch of the T1 line of the Paris tramway is shut for six months for vital refurbishment and upgrade work. The service will be replaced by a bus for the duration of the works.

The nine stations closed on the affected stretch of the T1 line between Bobigny and Noisy-le-Sec on September 29. The terminus will also be moved to Escadrille Normandie-Niemen during the period.

They will reopen on March 31, 2025.

The refurbishment and improvements on the line are in large part due to the arrival of the TW20 model tram, which is 15% larger than the trams that are currently in use.

The new trams will start on the T1 line in December.

Once the upgrade is complete, another will begin to extend the line as far as Montreuil and Val-de-Fontenay for 2029.
