Lost dog found at Roissy airport after eight days
A lost and scared dog - originally intended for Vietnamese dog meat - has been reunited with its English owner eight days after it went missing in Paris Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport.
Marlin the dog during his owner鈥檚 flight connection layover, and was only found after reports that an animal had been seen loose around the airport buildings.
The owner, Amelia Clayton, 22, is originally from the UK. Since Marlin went missing, she had delayed her travel plans and had been sleeping in the airport, with very little money, to help continue the search.
Ms Clayton had been in the airport en route back to the UK, having rescued Marlin from Vietnam, where the animal was being raised for dog meat. It was during the layover that Marlin disappeared.
Ms Clayton explained that all her spare money had been used to make sure Marlin鈥檚 immigration papers and legal documents were in order, and had been devastated to discover she was missing.
When reports came in that 鈥渁 grey dog鈥� had been noticed around the airport, Roissy animal handlers - specialists at dealing with lost animals - drove Ms Clayton to the reported area.
Dog handler Christine Thouret Horvath, who had been looking after the case, : 鈥淸Ms Clayton] started crawling through the wooded areas, to try and approach her dog, who was very scared.鈥�

Hundreds of messages of support have poured in from those who had followed the story.
In a message on Facebook, Ms Clayton thanked all the airport staff who had helped, and wrote: 鈥淚鈥檓 speechless and absolutely overwhelmed with happiness and gratitude for all you incredible people who have dedicated yourselves to helping me find my little Marlin. I've never met such beautiful, inspiring people in my entire life.
鈥淵our positivity and stamina has kept me going strong for all those hours you stayed searching with me. Everyone who has come to help look, or donated food, information, clothes, resources, or even just words of support, I can't thank you enough. It just shows the power of what a team of passionate animal lovers can do...Thank you with all my heart. Marlin has a nice full tummy and is fast asleep. Tonight, we will both be sleeping very well!鈥�
This week, Ms Clayton鈥檚 parents are arriving at Roissy to help bring their daughter and her dog back home as intended, pending veterinary approval.
