The predictions from come amid the second 鈥渃rossover鈥� weekend of the summer holidays, between travellers coming back from July breaks, and those leaving for August, but continues across the rest of the holiday season.

The official advice warns travellers to wait until Sundays or Mondays to travel, and to change any Saturday reservations if possible.

Red and black are the two most severe warning levels, two up from the 鈥渘ormal鈥� green, and above the 鈥渙range鈥� that denotes difficult traffic.

Red means 鈥渧ery difficult鈥� and black means 鈥渆xceptionally difficult鈥� movement on the roads.
