French vaccine certificates compatible with Welsh Covid pass scheme
Wales will require people to present proof of their Covid status to enter certain venues and events from October 11

The Welsh government has confirmed today (October 5) that French / EU Covid vaccination certificates will be compatible with the country’s planned Covid pass scheme, set to launch on October 11.
The scheme, in a similar vein to the French system, will require a person to present proof of being fully vaccinated against Covid or having tested negative via a rapid antigen (lateral flow) test within the past 48 hours to attend certain venues and events.
The scheme will come into force on October 11 for over 18s.
A spokesperson for the Welsh government confirmed to The Connexion today that the Welsh verifier app will be able to read French vaccination certificates that are compatible with the EU-wide Covid pass scheme.
The test or vaccine proof will be required for nightclubs, indoor no-seating events with more than 500 people in attendance, and outdoor no-seating events with more than 4,000 people.
They will also be required for any event with more than 10,000 people.
Scotland is also planning to introduce a similar system, set to be brought into force on October 18. The Connexion has asked the Scottish government whether French/EU certificates will be compatible with the scheme, and is awaiting reply.
Northern Ireland has not yet announced any vaccination pass scheme and England had planned a scheme but has since dropped the idea.
