A dangerous bacteria has been found in Reblochon de Savoie cheese causing the French customer services watchdog Rappel Conso to issue a major product recall.
Reblochon is a soft washed-rind and smear-ripened cheese made from raw cow's milk with an AOC designation, which means that it has to be made in Haute-Savoie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
advises consumers to return the affected products to the point of sale.
“Food poisoning due to Staphylococcal Enterotoxin can result in gastrointestinal problems (mainly vomiting) in the hours following ingestion and generally disappear quickly,†warned Rappel Conso.
The recall procedures will remain in place until September 8.
