A widespread recall of a popular model of Peugeot car is underway across the EU, due to a potential fault with the vehicle’s seatbelts.
An issue affecting certain Peugeot 308s produced between October 12, 2015 and February 1, 2019 can see seat belts fail to work upon impact.
“The rear seat belt anchors may not be able to withstand the force of the impact sufficiently,†during a crash, says official recall site RappelConso.
“This could limit the belt’s ability to restrain a passenger in the event of an accident resulting in injuries,†it added.
The affected vehicles have the following reference numbers:
e2*2007/46*0405*04
e2*2007/46*0405*06 - *09
e2*2007/46*0405*11 - *13
e2*2007/46*0405*15 - *24
e2*2007/46*0405*26
This number can be found in box ‘K’ on a vehicle’s registration document (certificat d’immatriculation or carte grise).
If your vehicle is one of these, you should contact a Peugeot dealership.
Full information can be found on the website.
It is one of several recalls to affect manufacturer Stellantis, which owns several brands including Peugeot and Citroën.
Alongside a long-running recall over faulty Takata airbags – which has included several ‘stop-drive’ campaigns asking drivers to stop using their vehicles until repaired – more than 600,000 vehicles across the EU were recently recalled over issues with timing belts.
Additionally drivers who have experienced ‘phantom braking’ from their car have asked that this is investigated further.
