Homeowners in France who heat their property using fuel oil or a wood stove can benefit from a national group-purchasing of heating materials, helping reduce the cost of materials.

The free scheme, headed by the ‘Energies Reduc’ group, sees several owners combine to bulk-buy materials, with larger orders receiving better discounts.

The group negotiates on behalf of those who sign up, who are then informed of the offer received.

“As prices are rising significantly again, group sales offer households heated by oil or wood the opportunity to reduce their energy bills this winter,†said the group’s director of operations Maëlle Ricard, quoted in Merci pour l’Info.

“The more consumers participate, the lower the individual purchase price. It also ensures access to certified, high-quality wood or fuel oil.†

How does the scheme work?

Rules are slightly different depending on if you are looking for wood (bois) or fuel oil (fioul).

Households looking to purchase wood pellets or logs have until October 22 to sign up to the scheme, possible .

It is free and comes without obligation, but you have to provide basic information such as contact details, postcode, and how you want the fuel to be delivered.

After the period closes, the group will negotiate on behalf of people in local areas to find the best deal.

By October 29, you will be contacted by the group to inform you over the negotiated deal for homeowners in your area. You have until October 31 to confirm if you want an order placed.

You place your order via an email sent to you by the group, and payment on your side is only made once the goods are delivered to a local distributor, who will then contact you regarding delivery.

For fuel oil, applications close on October 12, covering standard fuel oil, premium fuel oil, and F30 biofuel.

You follow a similar process by signing up at the , which is again free and without obligation.

The group will negotiate on your behalf, informing you of the achieved deal on October 15, and you need to confirm your interest by October 17 following the email instructions.

Deliveries will be made from October 20 onwards, and payment will be taken once orders begin arriving in your area.
