France is to drop mandatory mask wearing in enclosed public spaces where the vaccine pass is required from February 28.

However, there are some exceptions.

We list below the most common places where masks will no longer be required in indoor public spaces, and where they will still be required.

Masks no longer required (from February 28):

• Restaurants

• Cafes

• Bars

• Cinemas

• Theatres

• Museums

• Concert halls / music venues

• Sports stadiums

• Department stores if a vaccine pass is demanded on entrance (this depends on local rules)

• Casinos

• Public libraries (with some exceptions)

• All cultural and sporting events

• Religious buildings if it is to visit a cultural event, such as a concert (and organisers demand a vaccine pass for entrance)

Masks still required:

• Public transport (including buses, all trains, metros, domestic flights)

• Shops

• Department stores (if no vaccine pass is demanded on entrance)

• Hospitals

• Retirement homes

• Other medical facilities

• Administrative / public offices

• Offices

• Religious buildings / services

Yet to be announced:

Nightclubs are set to re-open in France on February 16, but it has not yet been announced whether masks will be mandatory inside.
