But is this due to the name link to Boris Johnson?

Les vins Aujoux managing director Bruno Mallet said: 鈥淥ur Bojo sold very well this year, but I think it鈥檚 more linked to the progression of organics in France than to the name 鈥楤ojo鈥�.

鈥淏ut who knows? We didn鈥檛 name it that on purpose. We must have been selling it under that name for around six years.

鈥淚t鈥檚 a complete coincidence, but one of our British customers did remark on it this year and say 鈥極h, you鈥檝e got Bojo!鈥�.

鈥淚t amused us. 鈥楤eaujo鈥� is a slang expression for Beaujolais and it鈥檚 probably existed since even before Boris Johnson was mayor of London, but it鈥檚 true you don鈥檛 usually see it on the label and it鈥檚 normally not spelt 鈥楤ojo鈥�. We have a trademark on that for France.鈥�

Mr Mallet said he would consider sending a bottle to Mr Johnson. 鈥淚t鈥檚 not too late. I might still do it,鈥� he said.
