Stricter Covid rules for three more French departments
Meetings are taking place this afternoon with a view to placing more areas in seven-days-a-week lockdown measures

Three more French departments are expected to move on to seven-days-a-week lockdown measures shortly – Rhône (Rhône-Alpes), Aube (Grand-Est) and Nièvre (Bourgogne-Franche-Comté).
The announcement was made today by government spokesman Gabriel Attal following a cabinet meeting and a meeting of the health defence council (the latter is also made up of the president and several senior ministers).
Mr Attal said: “Consultations will take place this afternoon in view of placing three extra departments, Rhône, Aube and Nièvre, in the list of departments that are subject to reinforced restrictions, that is to say the well-known 16 departments that were announced last Thursday.â€
These departments have been on full-time lockdown since last Saturday (March 20), for a period of at least four weeks. Some of the areas had previously been subject to weekend-only lockdowns.
