Plans to increase British overseas passport application fees

The British government has announced that it is planning to increase the fees for all passport applications from February 2, 2023.
Its proposals are subject to parliamentary approval so have not yet been confirmed for definite.
Standard online applications will rise from 拢75.50 to 拢82.50 for adults and from 拢49 to 拢53.50 for children.
Postal applications will increase from 拢85 to 拢93 for adults and 拢58.50 to 拢64 for children.
A government spokesperson told The Connexion that online overseas application prices will increase from 拢86 to 拢94 for adults while for children they will rise from 拢56 to 拢61.
These are the prices that are most relevant to British citizens living in France.
The 拢19.86 courier fee will not be affected by the change in prices, the spokesperson added.
The Home Office has said that the new prices will help it to 鈥渕ove towards a system that meets its costs through those who use it, reducing reliance on funding from general taxation.
鈥淭he fees will also contribute to the cost of processing passport applications, consular support overseas, including for lost and stolen passports and the cost of processing British citizens at UK borders.鈥�
