Snowfall in the French Alps on Wednesday (January 22) has led to the reopening of ski runs and a flurry of photos being shared across social media.

Up to 16cm of fresh snow has been recorded at Alpes-Maritimes ski resorts Isola 2000 and Valberg, with 10-15cm at Beuil-les-Launes and Auron, according to .

The Alpes-Maritimes Prefecture issued safety reminders for skiers who are keen to make the most of the snowy slopes:

• Before you hit the slopes, prepare for EFFORT!

• On the slopes CONTROL YOUR SPEED

• Pay attention to SAFETY SIGNALS on the slopes

• BE CAREFUL when using ski lifts

• Don't get carried away in FREESTYLE areas

• Be mindful that going off-piste is dangerous

• Research the risks of AVALANCHE before going off-piste.
