Lille residents can now have petrol delivered to their vehicles wherever they are, after a start-up fuel delivery service moved in to the city.

Following a successful trial in ÃŽle-de-France, Tank You has headed north to the capital of the Hauts-de-France, where residents can have their fuel tanks filled while their cars are on the street, in a garage or in a car park.

It is one of three new businesses offering mobile on-street fueling services.

Deliveries are ordered by a smartphone app, at which time the buyer selects the time and location for a fill-up. The only other requirement is that the vehicle's fuel cap is left open. The company charges a delivery fee of between €4.50 and €8 and there is also a mark-up on the price-per-litre of fuel.

A Tank You spokesperson said that the company is already building a strong client base in Lille and Paris, where the number of fuel stations has dropped by a third in 30 years. Two delivery trucks are already in operation and a third will take to the roads in early 2018.
