'My French property is overwhelming me and I may leave'
Columnist Cynthia Spillman advises a reader whose French dream has turned sour
Not fooled by green soft soap
Following on from your web article about hotel soap recycling (French group recycles five tonnes of unused hotel soap), I have noticed that many hotels change those little bars every day, whether or not the room has changed occupant.
I’ve lost count of the number of times that I have opened a small bar to wash hands when I arrive at a hotel, use the soap that evening and again in the morning, and when I return that evening, I find my hardly used soap bar has gone and a new, wrapped, one in its place.
Ironically, this usually takes place in hotels that have signs in the bathroom telling me all about “how green [the hotel] is†and how I should “reuse my towels to save the planetâ€.
