In fact, they contain a bacterium, Bacillus thuringiensis, that specifically targets the caterpillars, so can be considered as a natural 鈥榩redator鈥� and ecologically friendly. A variant of the bacterium is also useful in preventing and treating infestations of processionary caterpillars in both oak and pine.
