A 73-year old man was shot dead by a fellow hunter during a hunt taking place in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, near the commune of Selonnet. 

One of the fellow hunters allegedly accidentally shot him while trying to unload or reload his weapon at around 13:00, reports La Provence..

A manslaughter investigation has been opened, with hunters and other people to give statements as witnesses in the coming hours.

The hunter responsible had a negative blood alcohol test and his hunting licence was up to date, according to BFM. 

The autopsy is yet to take place.
