Macron in Corsica to unveil monument
President will visit on February 6
President Macron will be in Corsica on February 6 to unveil a monument marking 20 years since prefect Claude Erignac was shot by a nationalist militant.
The president of the Corsican Assembly, nationalist Jean-Guy Talamoni, has said he will not attend as he does not think Mr Erignac’s family would wish it. However. his political partner autonomist Gilles Simeoni, who heads the island’s ‘mini-government’, is expected to be present.
