Let vaccinated Britons abroad skip UK quarantine too, demands petition
So far only returning fully vaccinated UK residents will be exempt from 10-day quarantine but thousands sign to say Britons abroad should be included so they can visit family

A for vaccinated Britons living abroad to be able to visit the UK without a 10-day quarantine has reached 26,352 signatures.
Started in May, when the UK’s ‘traffic light’ travel system was announced, the petition said the government had been silent about the problems faced by millions of Britons abroad struggling to visit their families.
It comes as the UK government announced yesterday that British residents will be able to return from UK-coded ‘amber’ countries such as France without quarantine from July 19.
However there was only a vague promise that visitors from the EU and US should be able to do the same ‘later in the summer'.
No specific measures for Britons abroad were announced.
Responding to the petition after it hit 10,000 signatures last month, the UK's Department for Health and Social Care stated that it “will not risk throwing away our hard-won achievementsâ€, but would keep its travel arrangements under review, notably with formal assessments on June 28, July 31 and October 1.
