Fuel prices drop month-on-month in France

The price of fuel in France has dropped this week, marking the year’s first month-on-month drop, according to official figures published on June 3.

Diesel, which makes up 80% of sales at fuel stations, €1.4727 per litre on average, a drop of 1.71 centimes.

Unleaded petrol 95 (SP95) dropped by 1.02 centimes to €1.5841, and unleaded petrol 98 (SP98) was at €1.6482, a drop of 0.69 centimes, according to figures published by the ministry for ecology.

The price of fuel at pumps can vary considerably, depending on a number of factors, including the global cost of a barrel of oil, the euro-dollar exchange rate, stock levels of petroleum, changing demand, and the tax rate.

The June drop in prices followed a drop in May, to mark the first month-on-month drop of the year.
