French skies to turn orange again as Saharan sand returns
The sand is moving up from northern Africa towards Europe and should reach France by Monday evening (April 11)

The skies above France are set to turn orange again at the beginning of next week as Saharan sands blow across to Europe on the sirocco wind for the third time this year.
The phenomenon will cover the whole of France from Monday evening (April 11), and last into Thursday (April 14).

It is too early yet to predict exactly how thick the cloud will be this time, or the extent to which it will change the colour of the sky.
However, the sand cloud is likely to be more concentrated than that which reached France around March 28, but less intense than that of March 15, which turned skies orange and mountain snow across the country.
