France's Dronne river in the Dordogne gets wild label

The upper Dronne in the Dordogne east of Nontron has been named one of France鈥檚 20 wild rivers sites.

A total of 29km, plus 8km of the Manet stream, received the label, aimed at conservation.

It is part of just 7% of French waterways considered to be 鈥渋n a very good ecological state鈥�.

The Dronne was found to show exceptional biodiversity, very good water quality and it 鈥渇lows freely鈥� because of its natural banks and sediment.
