The - the second-most severe alert level - is set to begin at 11h, and finish at around 16h this afternoon.

Residents and visitors are warned to be vigilant, and to stay away from the coast.
The conditions are due to high winds and the tide conditions of the sea, the forecaster explained.

In its alert, Météo France : “Strong wind from the south-west sector will continue in the Channel throughout Sunday, with [winds of] almost 80-90 kph expected on the coast, and up to 90-100 kph around headlands.”

Waves are expected to be high, especially as the sea level will already be at high tide.

It continued: “The combination of all of these factors will induce a considerable risk of flooding waves, for the department of Pas-de-Calais near the sea. The area of Wimereux (pictured below) will be especially vulnerable to this type of situation.”
