The stance that MPs of the Democratic Unionist Party are taking is to leave the EU. Do they have a mandate?

The so-called hard border between Ireland and Northern Ireland is coming, so a referendum in the latter is required to determine where the people there want the border, on land or in the Irish Sea.

Northern Ireland is a devolved area in the UK and –similar to Scotland’s decision to hold a referendum on independence – Northern Ireland should be able to hold a referendum to decide where the hard border should be.
