It comes after a Parisien couple were found at a rental property in the coastal resort of Plougasnou, Finistère.

The police were made aware of their presence by a local resident, who was also in breach of confinement rules, as they carried out checks in the area.

According to Francebleu, the couple, a man in his 50s and woman in her mid 30s, each face a fine of €135 for not complying with confinement rules. They were also ordered to return to Paris.

The owner of the holiday rental, who lives in the resort, is also facing a fine of €135 for not complying with the seasonal rental order.

Under strict rules brought in by the French government during the Covid-19 pandemic, holiday rentals are prohibited from opening.

Police confirmed they are continuing to carry out checks at holiday properties across Brittany for people breaking confinement laws.
