Mr Hearn thinks the UK public were not given good quality information before the referendum and is calling for a free (unwhipped) MPs' vote on whether to cancel Brexit or not.

He has obtained official permission to hand his in at the door of Number 10.

Mr Hearn, who said he had never been politically active before, left Juignac on Friday September 29 and took a ferry from Ouistreham to Portsmouth on Tuesday night.

He stayed with well-wishers on his way up through France and said: “The people who have supported me along the way have made every kilometre and aching muscle worthwhile.�
