This list of reasons has never included tourism, and government spokesperson Gabriel Attal told BFMTV that these will principally now only accommodate those who are French citizens or permanent residents, and their immediate family.
The government is expected to announce also that travellers who are allowed to enter France must present the negative result of a PCR or antigen test taken in the 24 hours before their journey begins.
The time frame for this pre-departure test is currently 48 hours.
Accepted travellers will also need to self-isolate on arrival, but will be able to end their quarantine after 48 hours as long as they can provide a negative test result.
