French consumer group UFC-Que Choisir has highlighted a specific type of telephone which could put an end to unwanted cold calls to homes - and is offering the model for sale at a discount after buying up 11,000 of them.

It states in an published on October 18 that: 鈥淒espite the legislative advances [we have] achieved in recent months (a ban on cold calling in relation to eco-friendly home renovations, a reinforcement of Bloctel鈥檚 powers and an increase in the fines levied on those who break the rules) sales calls [...] are still not automatically forbidden [in France].鈥�

The consumer group therefore proposes through its subsidiary organisation SAS Que Choisir that French residents consider buying a Panasonic cordless landline phone offering an anti-cold call function 鈥渢hat enable [users] to block robots and/or limit incoming calls to a list of designated numbers.鈥�

The efficacy of this device has been confirmed by a panel of users, it says.

To benefit from this 鈥渟imple and effective鈥� solution for a discounted price, UFC-Que Choisir suggests a group buy, and has secured 11,000 units for the purpose.

Under this offer, the price of the phone 鈥� with delivery included 鈥� falls by around 21% to 鈧�47 or 鈧�68 for two.
