A reality TV show participant has revealed he was paid €27,000 for three days’ appearing on the TF1 island adventure programme Koh-Lanta.

Under French law game show participants must have work contracts and cannot simply be viewed as volunteers.

‘Dylan,’ 23, from Luxembourg, was paid for being in one of the teams which had to ‘survive’ in an isolated location and complete challenges last year.

He said the basic contract of €7-10,000 (irrespective of how long the contestant lasts in the show) was ‘not a fat lot’ – so he negotiated a higher rate. He was voted off after three days.

As we went to press the latest season of the show was on hold after a contestant accused another of sexual assault.
