An 86-year-old motorist faces losing her licence after telling police she was 'in a hurry to get home' when she was clocked driving at 160kph in a 90kph zone in Lot-et-Garonne.

The driver was heading home to the Dordogne from Vieux-Boucau (Landes) on Wednesday, France Bleu Gascogne reported.

She was eventually stopped in shortly after 9pm after witnesses reported to police a vehicle driving at high speeds in Marmande and ignoring red traffic lights. She was also caught by a number of automated speed cameras.

The driver was stopped by police, and explained that she was in a hurry to get home to Eymet.
