Trekking the GR5 Trail

Trekking the GR5 Trail, Paddy Dillon, Cicerone, £17.95 ISBN: 978-1-85284-828-6
CALLING the GR5 long-distance trail from Lake Geneva to Nice “simply a long walk” may be minimising what is a 32-day trek across the Alps but author Paddy Dillon does his level best to justify his phrase.
With ample descriptions of the route and the various stopping points on the way, this is a valuable guide to what comes across as a very ‘do-able’ trek that will give a tale to tell for years to come.
Its utility is illustrated by a passage in chapter two noting that a certain sector of the walk follows the same route as the popular Mont Blanc circular, so accommodation may be in short supply.
